Acne Treatment with Isotretinoin
Middlebelt Dermatology Center provides multiple treatment options for our patients with severe acne. We are exploring treatment using Intense Pulse Light/Laser System as well as treatment using Isotretinoin (Accutane).
Intense Pulse Light
We are exploring treatment of acne without the use of medication using the Palomar Starlux Intense Pulse Light/Laser System. This versatile machine uses light therapy technology and has the capacity to improve acne scars.
Isotretinoin (Accutane)
We provide treatment for acne using Isotretinoin (Accutane). Isotretinoin is derived from vitamin A and is found in small quantities naturally in the body. Isotretinoin (and its generics) is a highly effective drug for severe recalcitrant nodular acne, but it carries a significant risk of birth defects if taken during pregnancy.
There are new U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations regarding treatment of acne patients with Isotretinoin. This strengthened distribution program for isotretinoin, called iPLEDGE™, is a major step in protecting against inadvertent pregnancy exposure by tightly linking negative pregnancy testing with dispensing of isotretinoin.
The iPLEDGE™ program is a computer-based risk management program designed to further the public health goal to eliminate fetal exposure to isotretinoin through a special restricted distribution program approved by the FDA. These new FDA requirements mandate that all prescribers, patients, and pharmacies be registered in the iPLEDGE™ program.
The program strives to ensure that:
- No female patient starts isotretinoin therapy if pregnant
- No female patient on isotretinoin therapy becomes pregnant
Middlebelt Dermatology Center is participating in iPLEDGE™ program to make the challenges less burdensome to our patients.

Wart Treatment with
Candida Allergenic Extract
Until now, the treatment of warts have been frustrating for physician and patient alike. Treatment has often been painful, scarring, ineffective, and costly.
Middlebelt Dermatology Center uses the exciting development of Candida Immunotherapy in the treatment of warts. We have had much success in treating the most resistant cases by directly injecting the warts with Candida Allergenic Extract.
Patients tolerate the procedure well and amazing results have been achieved in just a few treatments.
Narrowband UVB Phototherapy
for the Treatment of Psoriasis
Middlebelt Dermatology Center provides multiple therapeutic options for the treatment of Psoriasis.
Light Therapy
Narrowband UVB is the phototherapy treatment of choice for Psoriasis, Vitiligo, Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma and other skin disorders. It is safer than previous phototherapy technologies as it eliminates much of the dangerous Ultraviolet Spectrum and only emits those wavelengths that are effective in treating Psoriasis.
Drug Therapy
There is also a new class of drugs available, the Biologics (Enbrel) that have been very successful in managing some of the most recalcitrant Psoriasis with few adverse effects.
botox® for Excessive Sweating
Hyperhidrosis is the condition characterized by abnormally increased perspiration. This problem often leads to serious social isolation due to the embarrassment that wet palms and underarms.
Previous therapies have been wrought with problems. Topicals cause irritation an Anticholinergics cause other side effects.
botox® Injections
botox® Botulinum toxin injections have recently been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat abnormally increased perspiration.
botox® treatment helps control this condition by temporarily blocking the chemical signals that stimulate the sweat glands. Patients are incredibly satisfied with their experiences with botox® and it has transformed some people's lives by exerting a positive influence on their self-esteem.
